Daniella Mooney, born in Nelspruit 1986, is a sculptor currently living and working in Cape Town. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Michaelis, UCT, in 2009 and graduated with the top mark in her year for studiowork. Mooney had her first solo show at Whatiftheworld Gallery in 2011.
Her work is featured in collections such as the Ellerman House in Cape Town as well as the 21C Museum in Louisville, Kentucky. Mooney’s sculptural work consists mostly of natural materials such as wood, stone, moss and crystals. With meticulous detail these various mediums are either crafted as site-specific installations or separate pieces, exploring themes in alchemy, magic and natural phenomena.
